What’s the value of a little friendly competition?
-it answers the question: are you as good as you think you are?
-lets you know how your images compare to those of your peers?
-achieve recognition by receiving scores and awards that will apply to SEPPA and PPA Degrees
-shows you how using those awards and recognition in your local marketing will set yourself apart from the crowd
The PPA District print competition, hosted by SEPPA annually, is the intermediate step between your state competition and the International Print Competition (IPC). If your images seal at SEPPA and you enter them in PPA’s International Print Competition, that seal guarantees you a merit toward your PPA Masters degree. Hundreds of images from all over the country are judged based on the 12 elements of a competition print by panels of affiliated judges over the course of two days. As a SEPPA member, you are welcome to come watch the judging. Imagine the educational benefits of seeing not only your prints scored, but watching hundreds of images with an infinite variety of subjects being judged and critiqued. You are also eligible to volunteer as a salon worker, which increases your exposure to the process. You may also meet the judges who offer input on your work and have been known to become long-distance mentors.
Watching the judging and critique process of hundreds of images is infinitely more valuable than paying for a critique of only the four images in your case. Add to that experience the Trade Show, and three days of social networking and educational programming, and you have a recipe for success and benefits that enhance your state membership many times over.
